Fan Installation
We install ceiling fans, exhaust fans, and attic fans throughout your home. Proper fan installation requires secure mounting, correct wiring, and making sure the fan is balanced and quiet. We’ll install your fan so it works right and stays put.
Ceiling fan installation starts with checking the electrical box to make sure it’s rated for fan weight. Standard light fixture boxes aren’t strong enough—fans need boxes rated for at least 50 pounds, often more for larger fans. We’ll install a proper fan-rated box if needed, run any additional wiring required, and mount the fan securely.
Exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens need proper venting to the outside. We’ll install the fan, run the ductwork correctly, and make sure it vents properly. Attic fans help with temperature control and moisture management. We’ll size the fan appropriately and install it with proper controls.
Technical Specifications
Fan installation follows NEC Article 422 requirements and manufacturer specifications. For ceiling fans, we ensure proper box rating (typically fan-rated boxes supporting 50-70 lbs minimum, with proper bracing between joists), verify adequate circuit capacity, ensure proper wire connections using UL-listed connectors, and verify proper grounding. We install appropriate wall switches or pull chains, ensure proper blade clearance (minimum 7 feet from floor per code), and verify proper mounting hardware torque. For exhaust fans, we ensure proper CFM rating for room size, install appropriate ductwork (typically 4-inch or 6-inch), ensure proper exterior venting with backdraft dampers, and verify proper electrical connections. We ensure all fans are properly balanced, verify proper operation, and test all controls and speed settings.
